Do you like to “go with the flow” and “take it easy” all the time. How’s that working out for you? Unless you’re a trust fund baby, I am guessing it isn’t working out very well.
Nomads have problems in their careers and in their life. It’s impossible to be one kind of person in your personal life and another kind of person in your professional life. You might be able to fake it for a while, but eventually it will catch up to you.
If you’re a nomad, how can you break this cycle? How can you start looking at your life in the right way? What’s the right way? You have to understand life is short and you have a limited amount of time on this planet. You shouldn’t act like you’re going to live forever!
Why are you here? What are your talents? Why aren’t you pursuing your dream? Only you know what you (really) want to do in life. Don’t continuously move from job to job and drift through life. Is that the way you want to live?
Please understand, I am not talking about blue-collar, white-collar, public sector, private sector, art, business, computer technology, manufacturing, entertainment, circus, sports, medicine, construction, engineering, law, politics, or making a bunch of money. That’s not the point.
The point is it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks you should do. It matters what YOU want to do. That’s the key. And it really doesn’t matter what IT is. As a professional recruiter I deal with these issues every day. People are unhappy in their careers because they’re working in industries they shouldn’t be in or working in positions they shouldn’t be in or both.
If you’re working in the wrong position how can you be happy? You won’t be and you will be a wondering nomad and changing jobs all the time. Time keeps ticking away so you shouldn’t wait to pursue what you want to do in your career. And, believe me, there is an age limit to certain careers. As you get older your age will matter. There will be some things you cannot do, physically or otherwise.
If you want to be in a rock-n-roll band do you think you can do that forever? What if you wanted to be an airline pilot? What about a professional athlete? Is there an age limit? You bet there is! Don’t be a nomad! Don’t procrastinate! Don’t waste your talents! Start doing what you want in your (short) life! Don’t waste any more precious time – start today! I hope this helps.
Good luck to you!
